What size company is RC Young Roofing Co., Inc.?
We install approximately 2 roofs per week, making us a small-sized roofing company.  This size allows us to inspect our jobs daily to ensure your new roof is progressing smoothly.  We are large enough to provide top quality service yet small enough to ensure that a customer does not get “lost in the shuffle”.  We do reroofing work and repairs on individual homes to large commercial projects for major corporations.

What subcontractors do you use?
More than 40 years have passed since R.C. Young Roofing Company began.  Yet in all those years we’ve never changed our company policy about subcontracting.  We don’t do it.  We use only our employees.  From tear-off to final cleanup, the only people you’ll see on the job are R.C. Young Roofing professionals in uniform.

How long will my roof be open to the elements?
And each evening when we leave a job, we make sure the roof is covered, even on large commercial jobs.  Every R.C. Young Roofing project is left watertight every night.  The most important difference between R.C. Young Roofing and other roofing companies is the quality of our work and attention to details.

Do you carry Liability Insurance?
Yes.  We have a $1.0M general aggregate coverage and $1.0M each occurrence. Roofers are notorious for either not having liability coverage or having coverage with a company that disappears when claims arise. This is an important issue to protect both you and the contractor. You should get proof of liability insurance before work commences.

Do you carry Workers Compensation Insurance?
Yes.  This ensures if anyone working for RC Young Roofing Co., Inc. injures themselves, their medical costs and income are paid by the carrier.  You should get proof of this insurance before work commences.

What about permits?
We acquire necessary permits for every job we do and coordinate with the building departments to ensure inspections are completed on schedule.

What warranties do you give?
We give a standard 10-year warranty against leaks and defects in workmanship on all full reroofing or new roofing jobs. After the first rain or high wind, you will know your roof has been correctly installed.  Warranties on products will vary.  Please ask for an exact warranty on your project.

What types of roofing do you install?
We install virtually all roofing materials.  Everything from composition shingles to imported tile from Europe and Japan.  We do both new construction and reroofing work.

Do you clean up the job site?
Yes. We keep your property tidy on a daily basis and at the end of the job to ensure there is no sign of the construction work that was just completed.

Do you replace all flashings and metals?
Yes, unless we are requested not to do so.  We replace all valley metal and collars around pipes and vents.

Do you install skylights?
Yes.  We love to install new skylights.  It can make a dramatic difference to your home or business.  If you are considering a traditional skylight or a tubed skylight, the time to have the work done is when reroofing.

How can a home owner recognize when a roof system has problems?
All too often, roof system problems are discovered after leaking or other serious damage occurs. Periodic (twice-a-year) inspections often can uncover cracked, warped or missing shingles; loose seams and deteriorated flashings; excessive surface granules accumulating in the gutters or downspouts; and other visible signs of roof system problems. Indoors, look for cracked paint, discolored plasterboard and peeling wallpaper as signs of damaged roof areas.

What are my options if I decide to reroof?
You have two basic options: You can choose a complete replacement of the roof system, involving a tear-off of your existing roof system, or re-cover the existing roof system, involving only the installation of a new roof system. If you've already had one re-cover installed on your original roof system, check with a professional roofing contractor. In many instances, building code requirements allow no more than one roof system re-cover before a complete replacement is necessary.

My roof leaks. Do I need to have it replaced completely?
Not necessarily. Leaks can result from flashings that have come loose or a section of the roof system being damaged. A complete roof system failure, however, generally is irreversible and a result of improper installation or choice of materials or the roof system installation is inappropriate for the home or building.
